About the event

EYAL RIVLIN brings his magic to the kirtan this week!

About Eyal:

Born and raised in Israel, Rivlin began teaching as an instructor in the Israeli military in 1993. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tel Aviv University majoring in Psychology and East Asian Studies. Pursuing the union of these two fields, Rivlin moved to Boulder and obtained a masters degree in Transpersonal Psychology. Also a professional touring and recording musician, he has released and played on numerous Hebrew and Jewish CDs including “Coming Home” a groundbreaking collection of original Hebrew chants released by Sounds True. From 2004-2007 he worked closely with Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and coauthored “Into My Garden” and “At the Rebbe’s Table”, two musical anthologies including recordings and transcriptions detailing the musical legacy of Reb Zalman. In 2009 he released “Body as Temple”, an instructional DVD set on the practice of embodied Jewish prayer.

While teaching Hebrew extensively for over a decade, Eyal’s students have described his award-winning teaching style as “inspiring, refreshing, accessible, creative and engaging.” In 2017 he collaborated with Lior Gross to create the Nonbinary Hebrew Project helping to build a bigger tent for nonbinary Hebrew speakers through a third-gender grammar systematics for Hebrew. In 2019 Rivlin and Gross received the University of Colorado’s Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Gender and Sexuality recognition award for their work.
